With these chime clocks, you pull the chain so the hanging pieces (that suspend but are not pendulums) end up at the top of the clock--directly under the timepiece. The chains are lowered slowly as the clock keeps the time and last for about twelve hours before they need winding again. Some have small pendulums which fall behind the chains--but many of them do not.
Most chime clocks cannot be found in regular shops, but must be searched for at specialty clock retailers.
Numerous chime clocks are wall pieces ranging widely in size and shape. The wood is stained at times--but chime clocks may be found painted, too. There are different shades and designs--some would go perfect in the kitchen area, a few in the den or living room, a few in the study and chime clocks may even add a classy and somewhat stylish look to your office.
Most chime clocks, however, are made from stained wood, a few arching at the top, others flat on both top and bottom having a subtle design on the sides. Some are long and slender, while some are smaller and wide--there are many variations.
